Circle Lens Review

I will be reviewing the Geo Honey Wing which I bought from honeycolor.com, about a month ago.  Cost was around $18-19 and on honeycolor.com it states the diameter is 14.0, however, I think they are more around 14.2 or possibly a bit larger (comparing the size to my regular contact lenses which are 14.2 in diameter).  It came with a free animal lens case (not pictured).

All photos taken indoors with natural light.

Left: w/lens & makeup; Right: w/out lens & no makeup

Comfort: 5/5
Since they are the same size (14.2) as my regular prescription contacts (Acuvue TruEye), I've been wearing these lenses for full days (8+ hours) with very little to no discomfort.  At times when I put them in, I can feel that there is something in my eye, and at times I can't feel anything at all, but that's more my eyes problem - finicky.  I had trouble at first figuring out which side is right side up and thus my eye suffered a bit, but I've gotten the hang of it and since have not had the same problem.

Enlargement: 3/5 Slightly enlarging due to the darker brown limbal ring.  Very natural looking if that is what you are going for (it is what I wanted and am happy I picked this pair).  I like how it gives my eyes a glossiness.

Design:  5/5 Again, the design is perfect for a natural look.  The limbal ring is a darker brown that blends nicely into the lighter brown.  I've noticed that my natural eye color itself has a darker limbal ring, quite unnoticeable from afar, so I really like how this design seems to mimic a natural eye while giving eyes a little pop.

Honeycolor:  5/5 This is my first time ordering from honeycolor.com and I was impressed by their customer service.  I had initially ordered the Max Pure Brown lenses, but a few days after my order, I received an email stating that the Max Pure Brown in my prescription (-7.5 for left eye an d-7.0 for right, very blind) were out of stock.  They offered to change my order should I wish to try a different lens or they would refund me.  So I went back onto the site, decided on these lenses and emailed them back with my choice and prescription.  In addition, I was worried about how they would refund me the difference in cost (Geo wings are less pricey than Max Pure).  I received a prompt response within a day.  Shipping time takes a while (about 3 weeks for me in California) but that's understandable as these ship from Malaysia, I believe.  I did have an issue with trying to figure out if these lens were fake or not.  I'd read somewhere that Geo has an anti-fake sticker but my lens did not come with these stickers.  After doing some googling comparing fakes to real lenses, I decided to just test these out anyway.  Again, the lens are great, very little to no discomfort for 8+ hours, but I'm still curious why there was no anti-fake sticker.

Verdict: These lens are pretty amazing and I'm set on ordering more of the Geo wings in purple, grey, and possibly blue from honeycolor..

Old Navy Review

I recently purchased some items off of oldnavy.com.  I don't frequently shop at Old Navy as I've never been able to find things I like from here.  However, I've been on the hunt for a pair of high-waisted denim and found a pair on oldnavy.com going for $15 bucks right now.  In addition, I ordered a few other pieces that I wanted to try, since shipping is free at a $50 purchase.  Plus, returns can be made to stores.  Here are the items reviewed:

First are the High-Rise Retro Flare denims. I got these in a 4 short as my petite size was out.  I love the fit at my waist, however as you can see the flare is really big and eats up my whole foot.  In the second photo, I pinned the left leg to be a slimmer flare and much prefer it that way.  Since these were only $15, I'm going to keep them and slim down the legs to be either a slight flare or skinny.

I ordered this pair as well to try out as it was also only $15.  I liked the sailor style and ordered these in a 4 petite.  I don't like the fit of these as much as the ones above.  The pockets kind of stick out and the leg is just not for me.  If the waist fit better, I may keep them and taper them down but since that's not the case here, I'll be returning this pair.

Next is the Light-Weight Camp Shirt in Blue/Red Plaid.  I ordered this in a Petite Small.  There's a variety of designs to this shirt and I'm planning on ordering a gingham print next.  I'm glad this shirt worked out.  I have a difficult time with button-up shirts as they tend to be a bit too tight in the bust area when they fit elsewhere.  I was pleasantly surprised when I buttoned this up and there was no pulling whatsoever.  It is a bit tight from shoulder to shoulder at the back but not uncomfortably so.  The length is perfect for my 5 foot self and I don't need to hem the sleeves, which is pretty amazing, so this is a keeper.

The last item I ordered is this cropped basket-weave sweater.  I was drawn to the basket-weave texture as I love anything basket-weave, however this sweater was so ill-fitting on me I just could not take a picture of it.  Immediately when I put it on, even without looking into the mirror, I could tell this just did not work.  It was basically too bulky everywhere then really tight at the bottom and sleeve ends.  Plus the sleeves stopped a a very awkward length.  These are definitely going back, no doubt.

Petite Fashion Challenge #13

Though this is Challenge #13, it is my first time taking part in the PFC's.  This month's PFC is hosted by Really Petite. =)

The challenge is: Stylish for under $100
Put together a professional outfit (excluding shoes and accessories) for under $100. The lower the price of the completed outfit the better. Bonus points if you can put together a completed outfit including shoes and accessories for under $100.

Outfit 1 totals to $50
Outfit 2 totals to $75

I had so much fun with this challenge that I decided to post 2 different outfits! Through this challenge, I have found new & professional ways to wear what's already in my closet and it couldn't be at any better time, as March is the month of internship interviews for me.

What I've learned from this challenge: I don't wear much accessories and I need another pair of work pumps

Lastest Obsession

My latest obsession is with collar pin/bars. Lately I've been wearing more collared shirts for work and have been looking for ways to spruce up my outfits.  These pins would be perfect for just that.

What I wore today

Today was my first day back to school for the Spring semester.  I have been dreading this day because I am not ready to go back to all the homework and assignments I will have to do, not to mention no more sleeping in.  Hopefully I can spend more time this weekend to complete some sewing projects; I won't have the time to do so until summer so gotta get it out of my system. Here is the outfit I wore for class today (terribly quality, yes):

Costa Blanca blouse from Burlington Coat Factory
Grey wool jumper-thrifted
Marc for Marc Jacobs watch-Nordstrom (bday gift last year from the bf)
Aldo suede ankle boots

Thanks for reading!

Elephants & Giraffes

Latest project using pattern Simplicity 2612 from the Project Runway line.  I used the short length and long sleeve.
Changes made to the pattern: Changed the front from a button-down to a pull-on shirt.  Instead of the collar, I made a tie front using same fabric.
Total cost: $2.00 (for fabric from Walmart)

When I finished sewing up this top, I was initially unhappy with it.  I felt the purple color was too light to be flattering on me and the shape was just boxy all over.  However, after playing around, mixing it with other items in my closet, I've found this shirt to be much more appealing and good for layering.

Here I am heading out of the movies wearing my new shirt.

Happy New Year 2012!

This New Year's Eve, I spent the night at home with the boyfriend.  We drank lychee sake martinis and watched "You got served" on Netflix and I fell asleep halfway through.  I woke up refreshed this morning and made jaeyook bokum and jajangmyun for us.

I don't really do resolutions because I am very bad at keeping them but my goals for this year are to continue my schooling, continue learning more techniques in sewing, and to take more photos.
