I don't wear lipstick very often so I was happy to find that all of these colors are fairly neutral.  # 1, 2, and 5 are my absolute favorites and I switch between them regularly.  # 3 and 4 have a bit too much of a shimmer and are good for night time.  I also sometimes dab a bit of either of these two to the middle of my lips for a dash of color with the neutrals.

The lipsticks are a very light consistency, creamy but not sticky.  The colors don't stay on well if I am eating, drinking, etc.  It is very light that sometimes I forget I have lipstick and its also quite nourishing to my lips making them feel soft and smooth.  

I got all 5 as sample from my Lancome order.  Generally I would not buy it because I just can't talk myself into paying $20+ for a lipstick.  I do realllly like these lipsticks however so will probably buy more colors in the future.

Petticoat Completed!

Working with yards and yards of tulle (especially when gathered) is sooo difficult!  But I finally finished my petticoat.  Worn under my dress below... and please, forgive my sloppy hair.  I took these photos right after finishing the petticoat.  Also, I used Sugardale's tutorial on How to Make a Petticoat.  I recommend it to anyone wanting to make one yourself.

Skittles

Came home to a box at my doorstep.  What could it be?  Oh, just the fabric I've been waiting for.  I'll let it speak for itself.

YUM Fabrics!!!  I ordered these from Fabric.com about a week ago.  The white material is crinoline that will become a petticoat.  I''ll be following Sugardale's tutorial.  The Yellow is Linen.  I was expecting a mustard/goldish/burnt yellow, however this yellow is more sunflower but still lovely.  This fabric will most likely become a pair of shorts.  The orange is a 100% cotton with a small ivory repeating print.  I honestly don't know what this will become but I loved the fabric so much I just had to buy it.  It has met my expectations.  The red is a broadcloth that I am pleasantly surprised with.  i bought it to go with the mod-ish with with red squares fabric.  I'm planning to make a version of this!  

I also bought a pair of salmon cotton pants while shopping on Easter Day in Union Square.  I don't shop at Gap, ever.  I've never really been in to basic clothes.  However, their 40% off everything lulled me in.  Sure enough I found these pretty pants.  I've been craving some colorful bottoms due to Zara.  These are a 2 Regular but the length fits me perfectly, hitting at my ankle.  Yeah, they are probably meant to be capri-ish style but they work as pants for me.  I also bought a v-neck in a bluish-grey.  It's the softest shirt ever!  

My current reading materials:

I bought The Complete Book of Sewing Shortcuts by Claire Schaeffer off Amazon and the Dorothy Moore's Pattern Drafting and Dressmaking book off Etsy after performing very thorough research on the extensive sewing books out there.  I'm really excited to practice pattern making as that is a huge interest for me.  I even went out and bought some pattern paper so that I can begin drafting.  Unfortunately, I don't have much time to study and really practice what these books teach which is making me heavily consider quitting my part-time.  Just look at these illustrations for Dorothy Moore's book; they make my heart melt.

Other reading materials:  I'm actually currently reading Something Borrowed..

Once I'm done I can pick up this novel by Sophie Kinsella that I found also at Goodwill.  She is becoming a fast favorite of mine.  I also have this romance novel that I haven't had the chance to get to...

I started a new job this week with March of Dimes, working as an Assistant Campaign Coordinator.  Which means I am now doing two jobs.  It's pretty draining already and it's only been a week so I'm really hoping I can manage.  I do not however, have any time to do all the things that make me calm and happy.  I get home around 6, have dinner, then work from 7-12, sleep.  Do it all again the next day.  I definitely like the job and appreciate having a job but it has given me a revelation.

For a very long time, ever since I started sewing and making clothes, I have wanted to pursue a career in apparel design.  There are plenty of people around me who believe in me, but I've always been held back because I didn't really think I could do it.  However, I have seriously considered taking classes to get certified in apparel making in the industry.  Primarily, I have been looking into Apparel Arts in San Francisco.  FIDM would be nice but right now it is not something I can afford and Apparel Arts provides me with the certification, flexible classes, and it is not tooo expensive.  I am particularly interested in patternmaking and that would be one of the first classes I'd want to take, even if not getting certified.  Just the thought of creating patterns everyday, working with fabrics, and sewing for a living puts a humongous smile on my face.  

I don't know what will happen in the future, guess that is why I have this thing to look back on.  But I know that I will regret it if I don't even try to pursue this and I know I cannot live with that.  

In the meantime, I won't even have a real "space" for the next half-month to month and won't be able to do any sewing which will make me a sad, stressed, grumpy person. =[
